Dark Sky Star Party

Dark sky star party up at Chuchupate.

Location: Chuchupate Trailhead Observing Site (large parking lot);  Frazier Mountain Rd, Frazier Park, CA 93225

Directions: Location: From the Antelope Valley,  Take CA-138 (Ave D) west to Interstate 5.  Take I-5 North to the Frazier Mountain Road exit. Go west, passing Frazier Park, until you come to a 4 way stop with a flashing red light. Continue straight ahead for several more miles until you come to Lockwood Valley Road.  Turn LEFT. (There's a pizza place on the corner on your left)  Continue for about 3 miles until you see a small sign "Chuchupate Ranger Station", turn LEFT (Frazier Mountain Rd/Forest Rte BN04) . The speed limit on this road is 20 mph. Drive through the Ranger Camp, for about 1/8 mile until you see a sign "Trail Head" and make a right turn into the parking lot. 

Weather permitting.  Please check the weather conditions, road conditions, and any fire warnings prior to the event.

You may arrive any time on Saturday.  Remember to bring your own food and drink.  There are vault toilets but no running water. Cell phone service is spotty.

If you are not staying overnight, please park so that you can leave the parking area with just your parking lights.  There will be other astronomy clubs and some may be doing astrophotography.
